Yes, ideally we prefer students to have their own yoga mats, for hygiene purposes. We have a small amount of yoga mats for students to use, though.
We have a toilet that is large enough for changing outfits, but we don’t have a shower, or separate change room, unfortunately.
Yes we have ample off-street parking. We are on the corner of Canning Highway and Petra Street, and the parking area in off Petra Street. Once parked, look in the corner for the FYC sign!
If injured, get the all-clear from your specialist to attend yoga. We have therapy classes for people with injuries and/or those recovering from an operation or injury. Please chat to the teacher before class to discuss your injury, arriving 10-15 minutes before class.
if you are unwell, we ask that you stay home to rest and recuperate, and remember to cancel your class to avoid being charged as a no-show.
Congratulations! If you have been practising before becoming pregnant, then talk to your teacher – at some stage you will be asked to move to pregnancy class. If you are new to yoga, we suggest starting your yoga journey with pregnancy class to best care for your body and baby.
Arrive Early: Give yourself time to settle in before class starts.
Respect the Space: Keep the studio tidy and be mindful of others.
Turn Off Devices: Avoid distractions by turning off your phone.
Try not to eat an hour before class; an empty stomach is better for yoga.
Try to arrive hydrated, as drinking is not encouraged, in class.
Wear comfortable stretchy clothing.
Prepare to arrive 10-15 minutes before class starts.
Yoga gives you exactly what you need!
If you’re used to a fast paced and active lifestyle, you may find it a relief to finally stop and turn inwards. If you came from a long period of injury or illness, you may find the movement and stretching is just what your body needs to open up.
Go at your own pace: Don’t push yourself too hard. Yoga is about personal progress, not competition.
Modify Poses: Use props or modify poses as needed. Instructors can help with adjustments.
Rest When Needed: Take breaks if you feel tired or overwhelmed.
Patanjali, in The Yoga Sutras tells us “It is only when the correct (yogic) practice is followed for a long time, without interruptions and with a quality of positive attitude and eagerness, that it can succeed.” We therefore suggest you set intentions for a consistent practice, two to three times a week.
